Building Bridges of Friendship
Our mission is to restore hope and dignity to families, communities and churches affected by extreme poverty in Africa. Africa Family Rescue (AFR) is an experienced team of missionaries dedicated to showing the love of Christ through physical, emotional and spiritual transformation. We believe that a critical piece of sharing the love of Christ with people at risk is caring about their needs holistically. AFR works through local African churches focusing on the following areas:
While much of the work is dedicated to caring for children, youth, and their families in holistic ways such as providing basic medicine, education, and investing in small business enterprises, all efforts will be integrally tied into evangelistic outreach and the strengthening of local churches. Our strategy will be to establish and grow a sponsorship program that matches U.S. donors with African families and churches. This program will challenge U.S donors to give toward some of the poorest of the poor and at the same time, also encourage those Christians with means in Africa to also contribute.
The Pahlow family will be living in Africa from July 2011 to November 2011 to select churches and staff with whom to partner. This will be done to build a strong foundation. We will be focusing on creating strong church relationships, establishing ministry objectives in villages and getting approval and support of the leadership in the country.
Currently we need to raise our living expenses as we live in the U.S. and in Africa, and start up costs for the new non-profit. Near the end of 2011, we plan to start accepting donations for family and project sponsorships and plan to roll out the family sponsorship program on February 1, 2012.
