The Student Y Christian Study Centre has been serving university students at the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa, since 1947.
The Student Y is a diverse, inter-denominational community in which students are encouraged to discover what the Christian gospel is and what it means to follow Jesus in every area of life. We seek to prepare students with a vision to serve God and to pursue the common good wherever he places them in society.
Students visit us during the week for a cup of coffee and conversation with staff or other students and also get involved in our formal activities, which include Bible studies, breakfast discussion groups, weekly BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch) gatherings, public lectures and arts events, and service activities with partner organizations.
The Y also has a vibrant residential life program for 10 students. This provides a wonderful means to model and form authentic relationships in a Christ-centered community. Students can also take part in the student leadership team, which involves additional leadership, discipleship and service opportunities.
