Since 1946, the UCT Student YMCA has been sharing Christ with university students at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
The UCT Student YMCA is a diverse, inter-denominational community in which students are encouraged to discover what the Christian gospel is and what it means to follow Jesus in every area of life. We seek to prepare students with a vision to serve God and to pursue the common good wherever they go in
society.
As a Study Centre we host a range of activities designed to form mind and spirit. Throughout the week we offer various formal activities, which include Bible studies, courses on theology, vocation and culture, reading groups dedicated for graduate students, and prayer gatherings. Students visit our Hall during weekdays for free tea and (instant) coffee and to study, or to take a break from studying. We also hold several annual seminars that explore how the gospel of God’s Kingdom informs how we view ourselves, the world, and our role within it. They also has a vibrant residential life program for 8 students and a student leadership team, each of which receive many opportunities for discipleship and growth.
