HLK-Bazadde Care exists to empower and encourage parents from under resourced families in Uganda to pursue a Christ-informed and scripture-based lifestyle, while pursuing practical education, in order to lead a life of dignity and self-reliance.
“Bazadde” is a Lugandan word that means “one who cares, or a parent.” HLK-Bazadde Care is dedicated to caring for parents, in other words, parent care!
HLK-Bazadde Care offers parents mentoring and encouragement in:
- Life skills training: literacy, numeracy, Biblical discipleship, goal setting, financial counseling and budgeting.
- Funding for Vocational training: Each parent chooses a path for training. Vocational training is then offered via an accredited vocational school or apprenticeship in areas such as hairdressing, tailoring, sewing and auto mechanics.
- Job Coaching: upon successful completion of training, HLK-Bazadde Care staff members continue to mentor parents to encourage growth in workplace skills such as interpersonal relationships, employment communication, leadership, problem solving, time management, decision making, workplace etiquette.
- Small Business Grants: The final piece of the program is to assist parents as they establish a successful long term income position. Because many parents will choose to start a small business, HLK-Bazadde Care offers small business grants to provide start-up capital.
